Effects Of Rising Earth Co2

Today, the environmentalists are concerned about the rising earth temperature. The basic reason behind this is the increasing earth Co2. The atmospheric carbon dioxide level is constantly rising.

The earth's climate has changed many times. These changes include ice ages and periods of warmth. The cause of these changes has been researched over years. Some believe that the rise in the temperature is a result of the varying levels of the earth co2.

Scientists have ice core samples, tree rings and models to study the changes in the temperature. The study shows that the percentage of the earth Co2 is increasing day by day. Evidences show that the level of the earth Co2 today is 25% higher than what it was 420,000 years ago.

The gradual increase in the level of Co2 has been observed since the beginning of the industrialization. However, it has paced up since the last 50 years. This increase is noticed to have occurred mainly because of the human activities.

Scientists have found an increase from 316 ppm to 382 ppm in 2006. The unit ppm represents 1 part Co2 per 1 million parts air. They are also trying to figure out whether the planet had observed similar trends in the increase of Co2 earlier.

Several human activities release Co2 in the atmosphere. Fossil fuel burning, cement production and other activities like deforestation contribute to the increase in the percentage of Co2. A combination of the historic and the modern data shows that the humans have added a total of 305 billion metric tons of carbon to the atmosphere.

Due to deforestation, the plants are no longer available to remove the unwanted amount of Co2 from the planet. Scientists believe that if this trend continues, the temperature on the earth shall invariably increase resulting in immense disturbance in the climate cycle.

In the past, only the natural processes were adopted to regulate the temperature. The earth's natural processes regulated the planet's operation. In addition, these also regulated Co2 and other gas levels and the weather.

The historical evidences prove that the fluctuation in the Co2 levels is a part of the changing climate of the planet. However, the process of natural Co2 control may help us a long way in managing our current problems, but may not be the solution alone.

If we see the current scenario, the levels of Co2 are constantly increasing. Excessive amount of Co2 on the planet may render the natural processes to fail. Consequently, it will affect the planet's ability to sustain life.

The time has come when we should use the knowledge of the past to solve the present problems. We have to exercise control on the earth Co2 levels. For this, we must decide how to lessen the Co2 emissions. The human influence on this planet is great but it must be controlled wherever necessary.
